Council Member Christie joined Mayor Annise Parker, Mayor Pro-Tem Ed Gonzalez, Council Member Robert Gallegos, and State Senator Rodney Ellis for the opening of the Lamar Bike Lane.
The Lamar Connector lane is a dedicated two-way bike lane, designated with green paint and sectioned off from vehicles with a raised divider. Separate bike signals at street intersections have also been installed to allow cyclists a few second head start.
The first phase of the Lamar Street protected bike lane is complete, running west from Discovery Green to Sam Houston Park. Eventually, this will connect Discovery Green to Buffalo Bayou.
