Happy new year! 2018 is shaping up to be a great year for Brays Oaks Management District, and with it comes many opportunities to get involved with your Brays Oaks community. Here are just three of many events for you to check out this January:
HPD celebrated the opening of a brand-new southwest substation on Nitida in December, and now they are ready to debut it to the public. Bring the whole family and join Houston police officers for this tour of the new building. Refreshments will be provided.
Republic Day commemorates the day that the Constitution of India came into effect, finalizing the country’s transition to a fully independent democracy in 1950. Join India House to celebrate the 69th anniversary of this momentous event. In addition to the celebration, you’ll get the opportunity to learn about the many services offered by India House, including Hindi, dance and art classes, as well as their legal clinic and after school programs. It should be a fun and educational time for both parents and kids.
On January 27th, the Chinese Community Center will embark on their first Asian Heritage Bus Tour of 2018. This 4.5 hour tour takes you on a journey through southwest Houston, exploring the history and culture of the area’s Asian heritage. Popular stops along the way will include the Ching Mei Temple, Ten Yen Tea & Herbs, and the Shaolin Temple Cultural Center. Lunch is included in your ticket price, so book now to experience all that southwest Houston’s Asian community has to offer.
