Programs

HPD Partnerships

The District provides HPD with overtime funds for use in the area with a focus on targeted overtime. Targeted overtime allows HPD to focus on hot spots in the area without taking patrols off the street.

Harris County Attorney Community Protection Program

Through a contract with the Harris County Attorney’s Office, the District has funded a nuisance abatement team that works with HPD to locate and abate businesses that are complicit in or actively promoting criminal and illegal activities within the District’s boundaries. The nuisance abatement team updates the Public Safety committee monthly on progress made towards addressing concerns.

Rental Credit Reporting

In partnership with the Houston Apartment Association, the District provides Rental Credit Reporting (RCR) for all apartments in the area. RCR allows for real-time reporting of several factors commonly used to validate apartment rental applications. If you are an apartment manager and you need training on how to use RCR in your office, contact District staff at [email protected].

Graffiti Abatement

At no additional cost to property owners, the Brays Oaks Management District provides removal of graffiti from businesses, public property, and commercial private property. This service is provided through a contract with the East End Management District who offers a low-cost graffiti removal program which not only removes the graffiti but often restores the property to its original condition.

We are grateful to our community partners and residents who actively assist us in reporting incidents. We encourage all residents and businesses to join in the effort to help us eradicate graffiti from the district by reporting here. We work closely with our graffiti abatement contractor and HPD to identify and prosecute the individuals responsible for graffiti in our District.

Light Surveys

The District has contracted for a bi-monthly survey of streetlights in the area that are damaged, missing, or non-functioning. The team records which lights need attention, reports them to CenterPoint, and regularly follows up to ensure they are repaired or replaced as needed. If you see a light out, please report it to CenterPoint by clicking here.

Enhanced Landscaping

The District provides landscaping and maintenance of esplanades adopted through the City of Houston’s Adopt an Esplanade Initiative. These enhanced esplanades help to keep the Brays Oaks area more attractive to current and potential businesses and the communities which surround them.

Litter Abatement

SMC Logistics provides for the Brays Oaks Management District regular and routine removal of “Bandit Signs” (Those little homemade signs which adorn the intersections of so many other parts of the city) and general litter which clutters intersections and detracts from the aesthetic appearance of a well-maintained neighborhood.
