On Oct. 31, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner signed a purchase agreement for the 28-acre Shell Research Center on Gasmer, adjacent to the Willow Waterhole Greenway.

“Today was a great day in District K,” said Houston City Council Member Martha Castex-Tatum. “This purchase will allow for significantly more detention in the Westbury area to help prevent residents from repeatedly flooding when it rains. We are committed to mitigating flooding and this city project is definitely a step in the right direction.”

State Rep Shawn Thierry said: “This is good government at work.”
