Houston City Council’s New Evening Public Sessions |

The City of Houston City Council has approved a pilot program to change the time of public input sessions on the last Tuesday of each month. Instead of the usual 2 p.m. start time, these sessions will now be held at 6 p.m. This change is part of an effort to make City Council meetings more accessible to residents who can’t attend during regular working hours.Key Details of the Pilot Program- What: The public input portion of the City Council meeting.
- When: The last Tuesday of each month.
- Time: The new time is 6 p.m.
- How to Participate: To speak, residents must sign up in advance. You can do this by calling the City Secretary’s office at (832) 393-1100, emailing [email protected], or visiting the Office of the City Secretary in person at City Hall Annex, 900 Bagby, Room P101. The deadline to sign up is typically the Monday before the Tuesday session at 3 p.m.
This pilot program kicks off on August 26, 2025, and will run until the end of December 2025. It’s a way for the city to test how well these evening sessions work and whether they help more residents get involved. |
