Today, we pause to honor the life, legacy, and enduring impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His message of justice, equality, and love in action continues to guide us, not just in moments of reflection, but in how we show up for one another every day.

Dr. King reminded us that progress is not automatic. It requires courage, compassion, and a willingness to serve. His call to build “the beloved community” challenges each of us to stand up for fairness, speak out against injustice, and work together to create opportunity for all.

Here in Houston, and especially in District K, we honor Dr. King’s legacy by serving our neighbors, strengthening our communities, and staying committed to equity and inclusion. Whether through service projects, advocacy, education, or simply choosing kindness, each action matters.

On this MLK Day, I encourage you to reflect, to serve, and to recommit yourselves to the work of building a more just and united city. Together, let us move forward guided by purpose, grounded in service, and inspired by Dr. King’s dream.

The draft bylaws are attached for your review. We invite all residents to read through them, jot down any questions or suggestions, and come prepared to be part of the conversation at our next community meeting.
