This month’s presentation will be provided by the Houston Police Department Forensic Artist Unit. The presentation will highlight the importance of their role within HPD and the criminal investigation process. Notably, there are only three full-time forensic artists in the State of Texas, and the Houston Police Department employs two of them.The presentation will cover the importance of forensic artists, including their role in:
- Creating composite sketches to identify suspects and persons of interest
- Developing age-progression images for missing persons and long-term cases
- Assisting detectives with victim and witness interviews to produce accurate depictions
- Supporting investigations in violent crimes, sexual assaults, and missing persons cases
- Providing courtroom exhibits and investigative visual aids
- Increasing case solvability and public recognition through visual identification
